Dr. Fernández is a board certified, advanced laparoscopic general surgeon with extensive experience in bariatric surgery. He was awarded a full term "Centers of Excellence" in Bariatric Surgery by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery (ASMBS) together with the Surgical Review Corporation (SRC). Additionally he was awarded a "5-star" maximum rank by Healthgrades, a hospital ranking institution. Originally from Miami, Florida moved relocated to Tampa 6 years ago. Acquired associate degree from Miami Dade Community College in May 1997, moved on to pursue a Bachelors of Science in Nursing from Barry University in May 2003, finished a certificate in health services administration and is currently finishing up a Masters in Business Administration. Before becoming an asset to Tampa Bariatrics she held an administrative director position for an operating room in Miami. She implemented a bariatric program there and came to Tampa with vast experience in the field of bariatrics.
